Our second weekend in NYC was fantastic.
We spent the better part of Saturday assembling our new desk from West Elm, cleaning the apartment (all 500 square feet of it), and doing a bit of decorating. We are happy with the results, as the apartment is looking great and feeling like home.
Later in the afternoon, we walked over to the Frick Collection art museum, which is directly between our apartment and Central Park, where we took advantage of free admission, courtesy of Erik's new employer. We spent about two hours wandering the collection, featuring works by Renoir, Rembrandt, Monet, Manet, Van Dyck, Goya, and Titian. Generally speaking, we most enjoyed the dramatic, nautical-themed works by H.M.W. Turner (Image One, Image Two, Image Three, Image Four, Image Five). We also enjoyed sitting in the Garden Court room, which is a serene oasis in the middle of NYC.
After our pleasant afternoon at the Frick Collection, we ate dinner at home, followed by a glass of wine at Fratelli, where all of the walls were opened up to let in a beautiful, warm evening.
Sunday started with a late brunch at Cilantro, which is quickly becoming one of our favorite places. It doesn't hurt that it is literally fifty feet from our front door. Sunday afternoon, Katy started her new job at Banana Republic, much to the dismay of fellow courters Club Monaco and Ann Taylor! The store where she works is three stories tall and is only a 7-8 minute walk from the apartment.
Now on to a brand new week. . .
With love,
Katy & Erik
