Like we said in our first post, we have a lot of catching up to do, and we also have many more Croscar Awards to give out. . .
Katy and I are spending a rainy Friday afternoon in the apartment. We have a couple more shelves to put together, but we are down to only a couple unpacked boxes! The apartment is beginning to look like a home, so we should have some photos up in the next few days.
One really great thing about NYC is that everything is within walking distance. . .including a Bed, Bath & Beyond store. Thank goodness for that, because we have been there four times in four days.
There are many new sensory experiences to be had in NYC:
Sights -- tall buildings, lots of people, bright lights
Smells -- fresh baked bread, ethnic foods, car exhaust
Sounds -- car horns. lots of car horns. honking all the time. for no reason. especially around 7 a.m. all different types of car horns. there might be other sounds, but we can't really tell!
Okay, here is the next installment of our Cross Country Awards. . .
The Croscar for Worst Highways goes to. . .
The State of Indiana. And it wasn't even close.
The Croscar for Best Vocal Performance by a Male Artist goes to. . .
Erik Simpson, for his 3 1/2 hour iPod sing-a-long through the state of Ohio.
The Croscar for Best Vocal Performance by a Female Artist goest to. . .
Katy Simpson, who, at the top of her lungs, while crossing the Mississippi River, asked, "Does straight mean left or right?!?!?!"
For Best Performance in a Sleeping Role, the Croscar goes to. . .
Katy Simpson, for 92 consecutive miles of sleep in western Pennsylvania
There will still be more awards to come. And, we will start taking pictures soon. . .we promise.
Tonight, we are going to have dinner at Cilantro, a Mexican food restaurant just around the corner from our apartment. We'll see how it stands up to the Tex-Mex we are used to.
With love,
Katy and Erik

Erik and Katy,
We are having Taco Cabana (Katy's favorite) tonight. So we'll feed 3 for $10 (Berklee too), guessing Cilantro's will be a bit more expensive.
Jason, Chris and Nancy
Seriously - how long can it take to unpack the 7 boxes you packed? If you still have 2 left, you are unpacking at a rate of 1.5 per day. Are you just trying to make it feel like you have a lot of stuff now?!! Enjoy the weekend. Mom
You know it is taking them forever to unpack because Erik has to ORGANIZE EVERYTHING . . . I am betting their canned goods are alphabetized . . .
Miss you guys!
Kim
